Nairobi | Amboseli National Park | Tsavo West national Park

Vast wilderness, the towering Mt. Kilimanjaro, and enormous tusked elephants define Kenya’s great elephant landscapes. Visit two of the country’s most renowned elephant habitats, each home to distinctive herds with unique traits.

Amboseli is famous for its large elephant families set against the dramatic backdrop of Kilimanjaro, while the elephants of Tsavo West are known for their gigantic tusks - legendary “Giant Tuskers” and their striking red color, a result of the park’s iron-rich soils.

Land of Giants - Amboseli, known as the “Land of Giants,” is famous for its large elephant population, which has been studied longer than any other in Africa. Spend three days exploring these majestic animals up close as they move across the plains in family groups.

Kilimanjaro Views - The snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain, provide a dramatic backdrop to the park, making Amboseli one of the most iconic and photographed landscapes in East Africa.

On the short drive to Tsavo West National Park, continue your safari through picturesque landscapes as you enter one of Kenya’s most vast and dramatic wilderness areas. Tsavo West forms part of the greater Tsavo Conservation Area, one of the largest protected area complexes in Africa.

Elephant Stronghold - Due to its immense size, this region is a stronghold for Kenya’s largest population of elephants, with around 15,000 individuals — nearly half of the country’s total. Large herds move across the park’s rugged terrain, creating unforgettable wildlife encounters.

The Big Tuskers - Tsavo is renowned for hosting some of Africa’s last remaining “Big Tuskers,” elephants with tusks so large they nearly scrape the ground. These magnificent animals are among the most impressive sights in all of East Africa.

The Red Elephants of Tsavo - Tsavo’s elephants are famous for their distinctive red color, caused by the park’s iron-rich volcanic soil, which coats their skin as they dust and bathe in the dry earth.

Mzima Springs - One of the park’s most iconic attractions is Mzima Springs, where millions of gallons of crystal-clear water flow from underground through porous volcanic rock, creating lush pools that attract hippo, crocodile, and a wide variety of birdlife.
