About Amani Ya Juu
Amani ya Juu ("peace from above" in Swahili) is a non-profit organization that gives the opportunity for well-paid work to marginalized women in Kenya and Uganda. Beginning in 1996 with four refugee women sewing placemats together in Nairobi. The Amani centers offer these women a place of peace healing and growth, and also employment so that they can provide for their families. The whole project is sustained purely through the sale of the beautiful products that these women make.
