Culture - Experience the city’s cultural and arts scene with a visit to an art gallery or collective, artisanal market, the National Museum or Karen Blixen Museum, or sample its world-class restaurants.

NAIROBI - SAMBURU 1.5H (AIR)

Depart from the rolling savanna of Maasai Mara and journey to Kenya’s vast, arid, and semi-arid north. Palm groves, riverine forests, dry bushland, and a sacred mountain backdrop make Samburu the jewel of Kenya’s expansive northern wilderness.

Explore - Samburu National Reserve stretches along the Ewaso Nyiro River, which acts as a magnet for wildlife in search of water, vegetation, and prey. It is a haven for elephants as well as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. 

Special Wildlife - Home to the Northern Special Five species (Grevy zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and the Beisa oryx). This is a unique group of rare and beautiful animals native to this region of Kenya.

Enjoy camps where elephants often amble by, offering wonderful opportunities to watch these gentle giants from the comfort of camp.

SAMBURU - RETETI 4.5H (ROAD)

Travel even further into the northern wilderness to the remote Mathews Range to visit the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. A landscape of stark contrasts and staggering views as far as the eye can see.

Community Engagement - A community-owned sanctuary, a first for Africa. The Reteti Sanctuary rescues orphaned and abandoned elephant calves to reintegrate them into the adjacent wild herds.

Learn - You will be paired with a keeper all of whom are recruited from within the indigenous Samburu community, who have been living alongside wildlife for thousands of years. You will be taught about the care, rehabilitation, and release of elephant calves and their ongoing anti-poaching initiatives.

Activities Include
Observe the daily feeding program of the different herds. Be paired with a keeper and learn about their work. Meet the other animals that call Reteti home.

 

Maasai Mara

SAMBURU - MAASAI MARA 1.5H (AIR)

Fly to the world-famous Maasai Mara - the land of endless savanna! Located in southwest Kenya, the Mara is one of the great wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied, abundant, and easy to see. The vast plains stretch south to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.

Explore - This iconic safari reserve and its surrounding conservancies promise exciting game drives and unparalleled wildlife viewing with opportunities to enjoy guided bush walks. All set against a backdrop of rolling grassland, hills, riverine forests, and acacia bushland.

Wildlife - Search for the Big Five (lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, and rhinos) along with zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, ostriches, impalas, gazelles, hippos, and countless other species.
