Explore the extent of this city of contrasts, both fascinating and eye-opening
Kibera - After breakfast, you’ll be met by Jonny. Set off to discover Kibera, one of Africa's largest informal settlements. Despite its outwardly sprawling and chaotic appearance, it is home to families, schools, businesses, and a way of life for over half of Nairobi's residents. Get to know the locals and learn about their entrepreneurial spirit and resilience. Understand the history of this contentious land and its struggle to be officially recognized. Don't forget to try the local street food! Have the opportunity to see and support many of the cottage industries, visit a school and or Biogas facility.
Lunch
Mama Oliech’s Restaurant - Fresh tilapia and Nile perch are the culinary specialties of Kenya's Lake Victoria region. Mama Oliech brings these flavors to Nairobi's cosmopolitan Hurlingham neighborhood. Popular among local office workers, travelers, and even Mark Zuckerberg when he's in town, the restaurant is renowned for its authentic dishes and fresh ingredients. From here, experience a taste of Nairobi’s famous matatu culture on the short trip into town.
Afternoon/Evening
Kenya Railway Museum - Learn about the "Lunatic Express," explore the old engines, and discover the history of British colonial expansion and the evolution of Kenya. From there, it's a short drive or a 30-minute walk through the heart of the city to the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel.
Activities Include
Visit Kibera (2.5 hrs); street food; Kenya Railway Museum(2 hrs); walk the bustling streets of Nairobi.
NAIROBI
DAY 2 (Oct 3rd)
Morning
Discover the history of Nairobi and Kenya, as well as a popular local fish dish
Nairobi National Museum - Travel by Uber to the museum. With pre and post-colonial, natural history, and archeological collections NMK is a great way to learn about Kenya and ease into the hustle and bustle of the city. The exhibits are well-documented and engaging, perfect for self-led or guided tours.
Additionally, visit the Snake Park situated within the grounds. Learn about, and in some cases, get up close to East Africa's impressive array of reptilian life.
Jonny, your Nairobi guide will be ready to meet you at the museum to take you to lunch and the Kenya Railway Museum.

Swahili Food - Enjoy some coastal flavors in the bustling city center! Sample some authentic dishes and snacks at Kilimanjaro Jamia Restaurant
Afternoon
Matatu Workshop - London has red buses, New York yellow cabs, New Delhi auto rickshaws and Nairobi has its matatus! Discover how these beasts of the street are transformed into galleries and nightclubs on wheels with a visit to one of Nairobi’s matatu workshops.
Activities Include
National Museum of Kenya and Snake Park(2 hrs); Mama Oliech’s Restuarant; Matatu workshop (2 hrs).
DAY 3 (Oct 4th)

Escape the bustle with a morning of forest activities, capped off with a cold IPA
Karura Forest Ecological Tour and Bike Ride - This day will start early.
Jonny will meet you at around 8 am at the Fairmont and you will make your way to the forest. Home to some 200 bird species, Dik-diks, Sykes monkeys, and much, much more - Karura forest offers a breath of fresh air and a natural sanctuary in the city. Begin your day with an ecological tour (walking). Take in the birdlife and learn about the forest's medicinal plants. Then enjoy a scenic bike ride along the numerous trails and discover pretty waterfalls and Mau Mau (Kenya’s freedom fighters) caves. After all that activity, you can treat yourself to a hearty lunch!

River Café - Enjoy a delicious and relaxing lunch at the River Café, which is situated in the forest!
Afternoon/Evening
Village Market - Craft Beer
Jump on the back of a boda boda to one of Nairobi’s high-end malls and visit the Sina Shaka tap room to sample their incredible selection of locally brewed craft beers.
